Riley Moore backs US air strikes on terrorist targets in Sokoto

A United States lawmaker, Riley Moore, has said President Donald Trump is focused on ending what he described as the slaughtering of Christians in Nigeria. Mr. Moore, a member of the US House of Representatives, said recent US air strikes were aimed at preventing further attacks on Christian communities.

He said the bombardment of terrorist targets was carried out in coordination with the Nigerian government, stressing that the United States did not act unilaterally. In a post on X, Moore said the operation was intended to help Nigeria secure its territory and protect civilians.

The United States launched air strikes on Christmas Day against two terrorist enclaves in the Bauni forest, in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. According to Moore, Christians in Nigeria had been attacked by terrorists during the Christmas period over the past two years.

Speaking during an interview aired on Fox News, Moore said the strikes were a first step towards addressing the attacks, adding that President Trump had made the issue a priority. He said the air operations were designed to deter further violence and disrupt terrorist activity in the area.
