Fire Destroys Ten Shops at Arena Market in Lagos

Fire has gutted a section of the Arena Market in Oshodi, Lagos State, destroying about ten shops. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said it received a distress call at about 5.50 pm on Tuesday and deployed firefighters, who arrived at the scene within five minutes.

The Service’s Controller General, Margaret Adeseye, said the fire affected five forty-foot container shops arranged in two rows, mainly used for storing and selling clothing materials. She said the fire was contained and brought under control, with no risk of it spreading to other parts of the market.
