Canada has deported 366 Nigerians between January and October 2025 as part of an intensified immigration enforcement programme. Official figures from the Canada Border Services Agency show that a further 974 Nigerians are currently listed as removals in progress.
Data updated on November 25, 2025, placed Nigeria ninth among the top ten nationalities deported from Canada. In the 2024 to 2025 fiscal year, Canada removed 18,048 people in total, at a cost of about 78 million dollars.
The figures show Nigerian deportations have varied over time, with 339 removals in 2019, falling to 302 in 2020, 242 in 2021 and 199 in 2022. Nigeria did not appear in the top ten in 2023 and 2024 but returned in 2025 with 366 removals recorded within ten months.

According to the agency, about 83 per cent of those removed are failed refugee claimants, while criminality accounts for around four per cent. The Canadian government says the policy is aimed at meeting immigration targets and easing pressure on housing, the labour market and border security.
