Street Urchins Reduced to Barest Level, says Lagos Police Commissioner

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olohundare Jimoh, says street urchins have been reduced to the barest level across the state following sustained policing efforts.

Mr Jimoh made the statement on Thursday during an interview, saying the police remain vigilant and committed to keeping Lagos safe. He said incidents of traffic robbery have also declined significantly, with no serious cases reported in recent days.

The commissioner said no major security incidents were recorded during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Eyo festival, and other concerts that attracted large crowds, attributing this to effective crime prevention and control strategies.

Mr Jimoh said the Inspector General of Police and the Ministry of Police Affairs support police operations with fuel for patrol vehicles, alongside assistance from the Lagos State Government. He urged residents to report crimes to divisional police officers or area commanders, providing contact numbers for complaints.
