The Nigerian gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, widely known for her hit song ‘Omije Ojumi’, has died at the age of 48. Her death was announced on Tuesday in a statement shared on Instagram by fellow gospel artiste Ayo Melody on behalf of her family.
According to the statement, Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye died on January 12, 2026, in a Lagos hospital, following an illness. The family asked for prayers, saying, “May God grant her eternal rest.”
Her death comes months after she publicly appealed for prayers while battling a serious leg ailment. In October 2025, she was seen during a church service at G.F David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State, receiving prayers as she sat with her leg stretched out, with an intravenous cannula attached to her hand.
