President Bola Tinubu has charged the Nigerian military to remain loyal to the Constitution and democracy, describing members of the armed forces as symbols of national unity and guardians of Nigeria’s democratic order. The President gave the charge through the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day Gala and Award Night in Abuja.
He assured troops that his administration would continue to prioritise their welfare, linking national security to improved equipment, enhanced training and better living conditions. President Tinubu also paid tribute to fallen service personnel, saying their sacrifices remained a permanent national responsibility, while commending serving officers for operational successes that have helped restore security in affected communities.
