Senegal has won the Africa Cup of Nations after beating hosts Morocco one-nil after extra time in the final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The match was decided in the fourth minute of extra time when Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye scored the only goal of the game, giving Senegal their second continental title.
Morocco missed a late chance to win the trophy in normal time after forward Brahim Diaz failed to convert a penalty awarded following a VAR review for a challenge by defender El Hadji Malick Diouf. Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saved the effort after a long delay that followed protests surrounding the decision.
