Nigeria’s Non-Oil Exports Rise to $6.1 Billion in 2025

Nigeria’s non-oil exports reached $6.1 billion in 2025, marking an 11.5 per cent increase from the $5.4 billion recorded in December 2024, the Nigeria Export Promotion Council announced. Executive Director Nonye Ayeni said a total of 1.23 million metric tonnes of goods were exported to 11 ECOWAS countries, led by Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, and Benin.

The top export destinations for Nigerian non-oil products were the Netherlands, Brazil, and India, while key exported commodities included cocoa, sesame seeds, soya beans, rubber, and urea.

Ayeni noted that the exit of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger from trade arrangements contributed to a decline in regional exports within ECOWAS and Africa overall.

A total of 281 non-oil products, ranging from agricultural commodities to processed and semi-processed goods, were exported in 2025, reflecting continued growth and diversification in Nigeria’s export sector.
