The federal government says Nigeria and Turkey will establish a joint economy and trade committee aimed at increasing bilateral trade to five billion dollars. The announcement was made during President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to Turkey, following high level talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In a statement, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said the committee would drive strategies to expand economic cooperation and raise trade volume from the current one billion dollars.
Speaking at a joint press briefing, President Erdogan said the presence of President Tinubu, senior ministers and top officials showed Nigeria’s determination to attract investment, and he praised Nigeria’s energy sector reforms.

President Tinubu commended Turkey’s cooperation on global stability and prosperity, stressing the need for an inclusive economy that supports vulnerable people.
