Unity Is Key to Nigeria’s Development says VP Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to embrace tolerance and peaceful coexistence, describing unity as essential for national development. He made the remarks on Wednesday in Jos, Plateau State, during a courtesy visit to the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, His Royal Majesty Jacob Gyang Buba. VP Shettima said Nigeria’s diversity should be a source of strength, adding that peace is a prerequisite for development.

The Vice President, who was in the state for the grand reception of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and other political leaders into the All Progressives Congress, commended traditional rulers for promoting social harmony. He also welcomed growing political cooperation between APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and Governor Mutfwang, describing it as beneficial for peace and stability in Plateau State.

On his part, Governor Mutfwang praised the working relationship between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, saying it remains focused on good governance. In his response, the Gbong Gwom Jos appealed for stronger security measures and genuine reconciliation across the country, urging Nigerians to reject violence and respect one another.
