FG signs MoU to train 10 million Nigerians on financial inclusion

The Federal Government has flagged off a free nationwide training programme aimed at equipping 10 million Nigerians with financial inclusion and literacy skills. The initiative is being implemented by the Office of the Vice President through the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion, PreCEFI, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who performed the flag off on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said Nigeria can only maximise its demographic potential if young people and women are equipped with relevant skills for a fast-growing digital economy. He said the programme focuses on financial skills, investment knowledge and digital competencies needed for sustainable wealth creation.

As part of the initiative, the Federal Government signed a memorandum of understanding with six professional bodies, including ICAN, CIBN, CIS, NICA, CRMI and NIIE. The agreement is to jointly design training programmes, certification pathways and digital skills platforms to strengthen Nigeria’s financial and enterprise workforce, with priority given to women and youths.
