Ademola Lookman has completed his move from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish club confirming the signing on Monday, just hours before the close of the winter transfer window. The 28-year-old winger has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Wanda Metropolitano until June 2030.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Atletico Madrid paid a fixed fee of 35 million euros, with a further 5 million euros in add-ons. The deal makes Lookman the second most expensive Nigerian footballer, behind Victor Osimhen, whose transfers involving Napoli and Galatasaray exceeded 70 million euros.
Lookman arrived in Madrid on Sunday to undergo medical tests after earlier links with Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Atalanta had previously rejected bids from Inter Milan, insisting on a higher valuation for the player. Lookman joined the Bergamo side in 2022 and had refused to take part in pre-season activities last year amid efforts to secure a move away from the club.
