At least 20 people have been killed after bandits attacked Doma community in the Tafoki area of Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State. The attack occurred at about 4.30 pm on Tuesday, with houses, shops and vehicles set ablaze, leaving many residents homeless.
The Chairman of Faskari Local Government Area, Sirajo Daudawa, said the assault was a suspected reprisal attack, coming about five months after a peace agreement. He said the gunmen, armed with AK-47 rifles, operated unchallenged before fleeing, adding that the bodies of the victims were recovered in Tafoki and would be buried on Wednesday.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. In a statement issued by the police spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, he said the Divisional Police Officer mobilised operatives in collaboration with the military and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to the scene.

Police said 13 people were confirmed shot dead before the attackers escaped, noting that normalcy has since been restored to the area. The commissioner ordered the deployment of additional resources to aid investigations and arrest those responsible, with assurances that further updates would be provided.
