Nigerian Army assures Onitsha Main Market traders of security

The Nigerian Army has assured traders at Onitsha Main Market and other economic centres in the South-East of adequate security, following the reopening of businesses in the area. The assurance was given by the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in a statement issued on Tuesday in Enugu.

The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, said security forces remain fully deployed and on alert, with intelligence-led operations ongoing to dismantle remnants of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network.

Lieutenant Colonel Ayeni commended traders at Onitsha Main Market for what he described as a patriotic decision to resume business activities, noting that their action demonstrated resilience and support for peace, security and economic progress in Anambra State and the wider South-East region.
