Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara in the Yoruba film industry, has died, her family confirmed on Thursday. Her brother, Ridwan Lasisi, announced her passing in a video message, expressing gratitude to those who supported the family and appealing for an end to further financial contributions for her care.
The actress’ health struggles became public last week following a plea for support by her colleague Ronke Oshodi-Oke, who revealed that Lasisi was hospitalized in critical condition and reliant on an oxygen machine despite extensive medical care.
Aunty Ajara was celebrated for her maternal roles in popular Yoruba films, including ‘Gingerrr’, ‘Queen Lateefah’, and ‘Isiti’. She had also publicly shared a personal tragedy last year, revealing that she had lost a child.
