The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has opened an investigation into global e-commerce platform Temu over alleged breaches of national data laws.
NDPC National Commissioner/CEO, Dr Vincent Olatunji noted that compliance with Nigeria’s data protection framework is mandatory for digital platforms operating locally.
Temu has not publicly detailed its response to the allegations and regulators said the investigation will determine whether enforcement action is necessary.
The e-commerce platform is believed to process personal information of approximately 12.7 million data subjects in Nigeria

Authorities reiterated that safeguarding citizens’ personal information remains a priority.
