Filmmaker and actress Biodun Stephen has opened up about undergoing female circumcision when she was six years old, describing the experience as painful and unforgettable. She spoke in an interview with Diaryofanaijagirl, where she reflected on how the incident has remained clear in her memory decades later.
Stephen said the procedure was carried out by her grandmother as part of a longstanding family tradition. She explained that she was taken from her home under the guise of an outing, allowed to play and eat, and later asked to bathe before being directed to lie on a mat prepared on the floor.
She recalled that at the time she did not understand what was happening, but remembers the intense pain of the procedure.
