Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pledged more development projects in Bwari Area Council if the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Joshua Ishaku, wins Saturday’s election. He said additional roads, schools and other infrastructure would be delivered to the area.
The minister spoke after the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Julius Adamu, withdrew from the race and endorsed APC’s candidate Ishaku. Adamu, who was backed by the outgoing council chairman John Gabaya, announced his decision on Wednesday, surprising many of his supporters.
Earlier, the Supreme Court affirmed Ishaku as the APC candidate, nullifying the candidacy of Shekwolo Audi, who had previously emerged as the party’s flag bearer. Reports say Ishaku had the backing of the FCT minister ahead of the ruling.

Adamu said his decision to step down followed consultations and advice from Wike. He urged his supporters to vote for Ishaku in Saturday’s poll. Wike had earlier warned that candidates opposed to President Bola Tinubu would not succeed in the election.
