Abia Warriors of Umuahia have ended a five-game winless run with a 1-0 home victory over Kwara United of Ilorin. The Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 27 fixture was decided at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday.
The only goal came in the 29th minute when Casmir Azubuike’s speculative cross evaded the defence and goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso to find the net. The strike proved decisive as Kwara United dominated possession in the second half but failed to score.
Abia Warriors’ defence, marshalled by Jibrin Faiz, Kunle Adeleke, Innocent Gabriel and captain Emmanuel Ogbuagu, held firm to secure the win. This was the team’s first home victory in four matches since defeating Warri Wolves 1-0 at the Umuahia Township Stadium in December 2025.

The Warriors are next scheduled to play El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri on Sunday. Meanwhile, Enyimba FC of Aba drew 1-1 with Rivers United of Port Harcourt, with Abiodun Joseph scoring in the 28th minute for the home side.
