The Nigeria Police Force says one hundred million naira transferred into the personal account of Victor Egbetokun, son of the outgoing Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, was paid in error and has been returned to the Anambra State Government.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, made the clarification in a TV interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk. He was responding to an online report alleging that the money came from the Anambra State Government’s security vote account.

Mr Hundeyin said the transaction was immediately flagged after the alert was received. He said Victor Egbetokun instructed his accounts officer to reverse the payment at once and provided his bank statement as evidence.
