Tunji Disu has officially assumed command of the Nigeria Police Force at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The acting Inspector General stepped into the role less than an hour after being decorated at the Presidential Villa.
Disu was appointed on Tuesday by President Bola Tinubu following the resignation of former police chief Kayode Egbetokun. Disu’s appointment marks a change in leadership at the top of the country’s police command.
He arrived at the Louis Edet House, the Force Headquarters, at about 4:37 pm on Wednesday. Senior officers from the Federal Capital Territory Command, the Intelligence Response Unit and the Force Headquarters were on the ground to receive him.

The new IGP has promised to enforce a regime of zero tolerance for corruption.
