Nigerian actress and singer Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed the inspiration behind her upcoming film, Mother’s Love. The movie, which marks her return to the screen, is set for cinema release on March 6.
Mother’s Love also marks her directorial debut. The film features actors including Olumide Oworu, Noray Nehita, Ifeanyi Kalu, Lilian Afegbai and Nosa Rex. The 48-year-old says the project reflects emotionally grounded stories about the strength and sacrifice of women.
Speaking in an interview shared on her Instagram page, Jalade-Ekeinde said the story was inspired by her personal experience as a daughter and a mother. She explained that her relationship with her mother evolved over time and influenced the themes explored in the film.

The actress described combining directing and acting as challenging but rewarding, noting that she enjoyed directing even more. She expressed hope that audiences will connect with the film’s emotional depth and family-centred message.
