Nigeria’s VAT Revenue Hits N2.28 Trillion in Q3 2025

Nigeria’s Value Added Tax collections rose to two point two eight trillion naira in the third quarter of 2025, according to the latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics. The figure represents a 10.66 percent increase from the two point zero six trillion naira recorded in the second quarter of the year.

The NBS said local VAT payments accounted for one point one two trillion naira, foreign VAT contributed six hundred and eighty point two three billion naira, while import VAT stood at four hundred and seventy nine point seven nine billion naira. On a year-on-year basis, collections rose by 28.10 percent compared with the third quarter of 2024.

Manufacturing remained the largest contributor, accounting for 25.89 percent of total VAT revenue. Information and communication followed with 18.77 percent, while mining and quarrying contributed 14.85 percent.

The report also showed mixed sectoral performance, with administrative and support services recording the highest quarterly growth at 89.28 percent, while real estate activities contracted by 51.33 percent during the same period.
