Africa’s Greatest Deficit is Leadership says Obasanjo

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo says poor leadership remains the biggest obstacle to development across Africa.

He made the remark on Thursday while addressing graduates of the Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute in Abeokuta during a lecture held as part of his 89th birthday celebrations.

The event, themed “The Global Africa Enlightenment: From Chains to Renaissance”, took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library and drew several prominent figures, including Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Dapo Abiodun.

Mr Obasanjo said that in his five decades of public service, he has observed that Africa’s greatest deficit is leadership, adding that a single disciplined and visionary leader can transform communities, institutions and nations.
