The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed communal violence. The directive was announced by the state government after clashes between the Chobo and Bachama communities led to casualties and heightened tension in the area.
In a statement issued on Sunday night by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humeashi Wonosikou, authorities said the curfew was introduced to restore order and prevent further breakdown of law and order after the fighting escalated. Security agencies have been directed to move into affected communities to stabilise the situation and protect residents.
The state government has also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel deployed to enforce the curfew.
