Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation HADIN KAI have repelled a terrorist attack on a military position in Ngoshe, in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. The Joint Task Force North East says the insurgents launched the assault on March 3rd, but troops carried out a counter-operation and regained full control of the area.
In a statement issued on March 11, the military said reinforcement teams from the Forward Operating Base in Pulka and the 151 Battalion were deployed to support soldiers at the location. During the operation, a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, damaging two tyres, but the troops continued their advance.
The counteroffensive was later led by the Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza, Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi. The military says the operation forced the attackers to withdraw, while troops recovered three AK forty seven rifles and a General Purpose Machine Gun barrel.
