The Nigerian Army has accused the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its supporters of spreading propaganda to discredit ongoing military operations in the South-East. The Army says the claims followed the circulation of images of improvised explosive devices recovered during security operations.
The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, said the explosives were recovered in the Orsu–Eketutu Mother Valley and Orsu–Ihiteukwa areas of Imo State during Operation Eastern Sanity under Operation UDO KA.
He explained that geo-location details on the images were deliberately blurred to protect operational security, but IPOB sympathisers allegedly manipulated the metadata and circulated altered versions online, suggesting the images were taken in Lagos and Oyo states.

The Army says several camps, hideouts and IED-making factories linked to IPOB and its armed wing have been dismantled in the Mother Valley area. Authorities have invited media organisations and civil society groups to verify the recovery locations and inspect seized materials.
