Several passengers have been injured after a train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja was involved in a collision on Monday morning. The incident occurred at about 10.30 am near Asham, according to the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
The corporation says the accident involved a rear locomotive and a passenger coach, and preliminary findings indicate the collision was caused by a coupling fault. The impact forced the train to stop abruptly, throwing some passengers against seats and metal fittings inside the coaches.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation says those injured suffered mainly cuts and bruises and were attended to before being taken to a nearby medical facility for further treatment. No deaths were reported.

Technical teams have been deployed to the site, while the safety investigation bureau has begun an inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
