Nigeria’s Inflation Rate Drops to 15.06 Percent in February

Nigeria’s Inflation Falls to 16.05 Percent as Decline Continues for Seventh Month

Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell slightly to 15.06 percent in February, according to the latest report released by the National Bureau of Statistics. The figure represents a marginal drop from the 15.10 percent recorded in January 2026.

The statistics agency says the rate is also significantly lower than the 26.27 percent recorded in February 2025, reflecting an 11.21 percentage point decline year on year.

However, the bureau reports that inflation rose on a month-on-month basis, with the general price level increasing by 2.01 percent in February compared with minus 2.88 percent in January.

Food inflation stood at 12.12 percent year on year, driven by rising prices of items such as beans, cassava tubers, crayfish and millet flour, while the average annual food inflation for the 12 months ending February 2026 was 19.08 percent.
