Power Outages in Lagos Due to Drop in Electricity Generation says Ikeja Electric

Ikeja Electric says persistent power outages affecting parts of Lagos are due to a nationwide drop in electricity generation. The company made this known on Tuesday through its Head of Corporate Communications, Kingsley Okotie, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

It said reduced generation has significantly lowered the amount of electricity allocated to distribution companies, worsening supply conditions for households and businesses. The company attributed the decline to the limited gas supply to thermal power plants across the country.

Ikeja Electric said it is managing the limited supply as fairly as possible and appealed to customers for patience. Residents and business owners have, however, raised concerns over the impact of the outages on economic activities and rising energy costs.
