A jury in Santa Monica, California, has ordered American comedian and actor Bill Cosby to pay 19.25 million dollars in damages to a woman who accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 1972.
The civil case was brought by Donna Motsinger, now 84, who told the court that Cosby gave her wine and a pill during a limousine ride before taking her to one of his shows, leaving her incapacitated.
Court documents state that she later regained consciousness at home, partially undressed and concluded she had been assaulted.

Cosby, now 88, has denied the allegation, and his lawyer says he will appeal the verdict; the case is one of dozens of accusations made against him over several decades, although his 2018 criminal conviction was overturned in 2021.
