A Federal Capital Territory High Court has ordered the arrest of Kabiru Turaki, a factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, for failing to appear in court.
The order was issued on Thursday by Justice U.P. Kekemeke in a case filed by the Inspector General of Police, which accuses the former minister of providing false information in a petition dated October 2022.
Turaki was scheduled to be arraigned on January 28 but did not appear, prompting the prosecution to request a bench warrant. His lawyer told the court that a petition had been submitted to the Chief Judge seeking a transfer of the case.

However, the court ruled that such a petition does not halt criminal proceedings without a directive from the Chief Judge, and granted the request for his arrest.
