The Abia State Government has released the fixtures for the state finals of the Abia Soccer Fest tournament in Umuahia, banning local government area teams from playing on their home grounds.
Officials say the decision is aimed at ensuring fairness and eliminating home advantage during the competition. The announcement was made on Wednesday during the fixture unveiling ceremony.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu, and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba, said about 60 young footballers were identified in the earlier stages of the tournament.
