The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, says the country is ready to partner with global investors on aviation financing and fleet expansion. He made the remarks on Wednesday at the Nigerian Aircraft Acquisition and Investment Summit 2026 in Lagos.
Keyamo said limited access to affordable aircraft financing has constrained Nigerian airlines for decades, affecting fleet renewal, route expansion and operational efficiency. He noted that the government has introduced reforms, including the strengthened implementation of the Cape Town Convention and a federal high court directive on aircraft leasing issued in September 2024.
He added that the next phase will focus on financing structures such as leases, guarantees and export credit support to boost fleet growth. The minister called on global financiers, manufacturers and development partners to increase engagement with Nigeria’s aviation market.
