Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of several roads due to the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled for today. Authorities say the measure is to ensure a safe and smooth celebration across key parts of the city.
The affected routes are mainly around Onikan and Tafawa Balewa Square. They include King George the Fifth Road near the Mobil Filling Station, Onikan Roundabout inbound to TBS, Flagstaff House route to TBS, Outer Marina near State House, Campbell Street by the Old Defence Building, and Catholic Mission Street by St. Nicholas Church.
Officials say the closures will begin from 7 am in the morning, with traffic diversion plans already in place. Vehicles from Obalende heading toward Onikan will be redirected to Zone Two, while traffic from Bonny Camp and Flagstaff House will be diverted toward Obalende Bridge. Motorists from Outer Marina will also be redirected through the same route.

Residents and motorists are advised to plan their movements and use alternative routes to avoid delays. The government has appealed for public understanding, noting that the restrictions are necessary for the success of the carnival.
