Tinubu mourns soldiers killed in Borno attack

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of soldiers following a terrorist attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State. The attack, carried out by suspected Boko Haram fighters, targeted the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai in the early hours of Thursday.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, confirmed that the coordinated assault occurred around 12:30 a.m., resulting in the deaths of an unspecified number of personnel. In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president extended condolences to the military and the families of the fallen soldiers.

President Tinubu praised the courage of the troops, noting that they resisted the attackers and prevented them from advancing into nearby communities. He said ongoing land and air operations by the armed forces have continued to weaken insurgent groups, adding that the latest assault reflects desperation among the attackers.
