Iyabo Obasanjo suspends Ogun governorship ambition

Iyabo Obasanjo has suspended her aspiration to contest the Ogun State governorship election in 2027. She announced the decision in a statement on Monday, citing recent developments within the All Progressives Congress.

Mrs Obasanjo said her decision followed the endorsement of Senator Solomon Adeola as the consensus candidate of the party. She congratulated Senator Adeola and expressed appreciation to party leaders at both the state and national levels for the opportunity to participate in the process.

She also thanked her supporters for their trust and support since she declared her intention to run for office. Mrs Obasanjo noted that the endorsement of Senator Adeola influenced her decision to step aside from the race.
