Singer Tiwa Savage has revealed how record producer Don Jazzy played a key role in shaping her music career by encouraging her to sing in Nigerian languages. Speaking during a recent appearance on Arise TV, the singer said that although she started as an R&B artist, Don Jazzy pushed her to explore Afrobeats and sing in Yoruba, Igbo, and Pidgin.
She said the transition was challenging at first but ultimately helped expand her reach and redefine her sound in the industry. Tiwa Savage stated that being under Don Jazzy was a helpful experience, as he made her see that talent is not limited to one style or language.
She revealed that the producer even pushed her to do the song “Eminado,” which she admitted she did not like at first, thinking it was not her style. However, she noted that the song eventually became one of her biggest Pan-African records, teaching her to trust the creative process.
