A Federal High Court has granted former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, permission to seek dental and eye treatment in Abuja while in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The order followed proceedings on Wednesday during the hearing of an application seeking a variation of his bail conditions.
During the proceedings, defence counsel led by Oluwole Olaniyan appealed to the court to allow the former governor access to medical care at facilities in Abuja. Prosecuting counsel, Dr Agada Akogwu, represented the ICPC in the matter before the court.
The court directed the anti-corruption agency to transport El-Rufai to medical facilities of his choice, including Mile Dental Clinic and Skipper Eye-Q Hospital in Abuja, whenever treatment becomes necessary. The court also ordered that all movements must remain under strict ICPC supervision and that he should be returned to custody immediately after treatment.

The matter was adjourned until Thursday for ruling on the application seeking a variation of the bail conditions earlier granted to the former governor. The ICPC said it would continue to comply with court directives while maintaining lawful custody of the defendant.
