Gunmen Abduct Former Minister Adelabu's Sister and Her Twin Sons in Ibadan

Gunmen have abducted Olaide John Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her twelve-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan, Oyo State, according to a statement issued by one of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro. The statement confirmed that John Paul, aged 43, was abducted at about 7:30 am on Wednesday while on her way to drop the children at school, with the abductors forcefully taking away her twin sons, who were with her at the time of the incident.

Awogboro described John Paul as the youngest of Olufunmilayo Adelabu’s five children, noting that she had worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before voluntarily retiring last year. Following her retirement, she relocated to Ibadan with her children while making preparations to eventually join her husband, who had earlier relocated to the United States.

Awogboro said security and law enforcement agencies were immediately alerted after the incident and have commenced investigations, with efforts ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of those responsible. He stated that Adelabu and members of the family are deeply distressed by the development but remain hopeful that security agencies will secure the victims’ safe release.
