Samuel Adeboye Adeyeye, the X user popularly known as Swanky 001, has regained his freedom weeks after being sentenced to prison for spreading false claims about Deja, the daughter of singers Adekunle Gold and Simi. News of his release was posted on social media by human rights activist and presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.
On May 14, social media influencer Pamilerin Adegoke had disclosed that Adeyeye was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to charges of cyberbullying and defamation stemming from a post in which he shared a photo of a candle with a caption falsely claiming that the child had died.
Sowore revealed that Adeyeye was released after a concerned benefactor paid the court-imposed fine, stating that, following public interventions regarding the prison sentence imposed on him, a good Samaritan stepped forward and paid the fine in lieu of imprisonment. A court document attached to Sowore’s post showed that the fine amounted to N1 million and was paid on June 5.

Sowore wrote that Adeyeye was arrested, prosecuted, and convicted by a Federal High Court in Lagos on charges of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading information the court found to be false and malicious, with the case arising from social media posts concerning the daughter of popular Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold and his wife, Simi. As a result of the payment, Adeyeye has now been released and reunited with his family.
