The family of actor Alexx Ekubo has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding his death, saying key details about his passing have not been disclosed to relatives.
The 40-year-old actor died on 11 May after what was described as a prolonged battle with stage 4 kidney cancer. He was buried last week in his grandfather’s compound in Abia State following a service of songs on 10 June and a wake attended by family, friends and colleagues.
In a statement issued on Thursday, David Ekubo, speaking on behalf of the family, said relatives were not informed immediately of the actor’s death. He also alleged that the family member who received the body from the mortuary was not allowed to view it.
The family further claimed that Alexx Ekubo’s mother and only sibling have not been formally briefed on the circumstances of his death and called for answers. As of Thursday, neither the actor’s management nor his representatives had publicly responded to the allegations.
