The Abia State Government has begun demolishing illegal motor parks and shanties along the Abia Tower axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway and the Amachara area of Umuahia. This exercise is part of the state’s efforts to enhance urban aesthetics and ensure orderliness, according to Kingsley Agomoh, the General Manager of Umuahia Capital Development Authority.
Mr. Agomoh stated that the owners of the structures were issued quit notices prior to the demolition. He emphasised that the government will no longer tolerate activities that deface the capital city, urging operators of trailers, buses, and other transporters to relocate to the Ohiya trailer and bus terminal, which he described as more suitable for their operations.

While noting that the initiative aligns with the administration’s urban development agenda, which is already transforming the state’s outlook, Mr. Agomoh appealed to residents for their support to sustain ongoing development efforts.
