The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria has criticised what it describes as the role of some religious leaders in the recent attack in Plateau State. The group says inflammatory rhetoric may have contributed to the violence in Angwan Rukuba, in Jos North Local Government Area.
At least 28 people were killed, and several others were injured on Sunday when suspected bandits attacked a bar in the community, shooting and machete-wielding residents. The incident prompted the state government to impose a 48-hour curfew in the area.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, MACBAN president, Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, condemned the killings and accused some religious figures of fuelling division. He called such actions irresponsible and warned they could escalate tensions in already fragile communities.

The group has urged security agencies to investigate and prosecute anyone found inciting violence, and called on religious and community leaders to promote dialogue and restraint. It also appealed for increased security presence and intelligence gathering to prevent further attacks.
