The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged the Nigerian military to take swift and decisive action against the Lakurawa terror group, which has been terrorising communities in Sokoto and Kebbi states. The ACF called on security forces to use all resources at their disposal to neutralise the group and restore peace in the North-West.
Expressing deep concern, the Forum described the emergence of this new terror group as a severe escalation of insecurity in the region, which has increasingly become a hub of terrorist activities in Nigeria. The ACF noted that the spread of terrorism in the North-West poses serious threats to the lives and livelihoods of residents.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the ACF highlighted the urgent need for proactive military engagement to contain the group, stressing that addressing the Lakurawa threat is critical to safeguarding national security and stability.
The ACF appealed to the government and military to work collaboratively with local communities, adding that residents deserve immediate relief from terror and a swift return to normalcy.
