ADC questions INEC’s voter registration figures in South West

Gombe Opposition Coalition Adopts ADC Ahead of 2027 Polls

The African Democratic Congress has raised concerns over figures released by Nigeria’s electoral body, INEC, on new voter registrations. The party described the numbers, particularly from Osun State, as statistically implausible and called for explanations.

According to INEC’s first-week report, Osun State recorded nearly 400,000 new Permanent Voter Card pre-registrations. The ADC said this figure surpassed the state’s total voter additions for the entire four years between 2019 and 2023.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the South West zone alone accounted for 72 percent of all registrations nationwide. By contrast, the South East recorded fewer than 2,000, while the North East accounted for just over six percent.

The ADC has urged INEC to conduct a forensic audit of the figures, including a state-by-state breakdown and server logs. The party warned that failure to address anomalies in the voter register could undermine the integrity of Nigeria’s elections.
