ADC Sets Four-Pillar Standard for 2027 Candidates

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has outlined strict criteria for aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting it will only field candidates who demonstrate character, competence, courage, and discipline. National Chairman Senator David Mark announced the new standard during the party’s National Working Committee meeting in Abuja.

Mark said the ADC aims to redefine political leadership by prioritising integrity and institutional reforms over personality politics. He emphasised that the party seeks to build a legacy rooted in transparency, internal democracy, and accountability to citizens.

His remarks come amid growing speculation over a possible opposition coalition involving Atiku Abubakar, Goodluck Jonathan, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi. Analysts say the ADC’s new framework could shape alliance negotiations and power-sharing talks as opposition parties prepare to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 elections.
