Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has become the first artiste to sell out the newly renovated National Theatre in Lagos, now known as the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts. The concert, held on December 26, filled the 3,560-seat venue, marking a milestone in the artiste’s career.
Adekunle Gold was presented with two plaques on Thursday, one recognising the management and record label behind the concert, and another honouring him as the first artiste to headline and sell out the theatre. The organisers described the event as a landmark moment for live music performances at the historic venue.
The concert featured a blend of classical arrangements and Afrobeats, with Adekunle Gold performing alongside a full orchestra. The black-tie event drew praise from fans for its production quality and musical depth.
