The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed it has received an appeal from the Senegalese Football Federation over the decision that awarded the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco. The appeal is against both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
The CAF Appeal Board had overturned Senegal’s 1-0 extra-time victory and awarded Morocco a 3-0 win, citing a breach of competition rules during the AFCON final. Senegal is asking for the decision to be set aside and to be recognised as the rightful champions, while also seeking a pause in procedural timelines until full details of the CAF ruling are provided.
The arbitration body says a panel will be appointed to hear the case, and a timetable will follow. Senegal has twenty days to submit its arguments, after which CAF and Morocco will have another twenty days to respond. Officials say it is too early to indicate when a final hearing will take place, but the process will aim to ensure fairness for all parties.

The dispute follows a controversial final in Rabat where Senegalese players briefly walked off the pitch after a late penalty decision in favour of Morocco. Although Senegal later won the match, CAF ruled the walk-off breached its regulations. Senegal’s government has rejected the verdict and called for an investigation, while Morocco maintains the decision upholds the integrity of the competition.
