The African Development Bank (AfDB) has invested more than $8 billion in water infrastructure projects across 40 African nations since 2000, benefiting over 92 million people.
The announcement was made in Abuja by Johannes Chirwa, the bank’s Director of Water Development and Sanitation, during the West Africa sub-regional meeting of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW).

Speaking through Emily Kilongi, AfDB’s Principal Water and Sanitation Engineer, Chirwa described the meeting as a vital forum for reviewing progress, addressing challenges, and shaping future strategies for water management on the continent.
